1) SAFE SPACE

When girls escape FGM and forced marriage, we facilitate a carefully guided and survivor-centered reconciliation process with their families and loved ones to promote long-term healing and stability. This process helps rebuild trust, address harmful behaviors, and strengthen family support systems. Through counseling, open dialogue, and mediation, survivors can safely reconnect with their families, reduce future risks, and restore supportive relationships that aid emotional recovery. For girls, we implement structured co-parenting arrangements to ensure their safety and stability. Throughout the reconciliation process, we prioritize the survivor’s safety, autonomy, and well-being, and we immediately suspend reconciliation efforts if any risk or threat re-emerges.

2) WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT & SKILLS PROGRAM

i. Women Vocational Skills Training & Certification Project
This project focuses on equipping girls and women with practical, marketable skills in fashion and design, hairdressing, beadwork, beauty therapy, and computer packages. Through structured training, mentorship, and certification, participants gain both technical and soft skills needed to secure employment or pursue self-employment. The project also connects trainees to local businesses for internships and job placements, ensuring they gain real-world experience and are prepared to succeed in the job market. Ultimately, this project empowers women with the confidence and qualifications necessary to improve their livelihoods and contribute to their communities.
ii. Women Economic Empowerment Project
This project empowers women to transform their newly acquired skills into sustainable income-generating enterprises. It provides entrepreneurship training in business planning, financial management, digital marketing, and record keeping, while also supporting women to form savings groups and access startup capital. Graduates receive business starter kits tailored to their chosen trade such as sewing machines, hairdressing equipment, or beadwork materials and are linked to markets and mentorship opportunities to help grow their enterprises. By strengthening women’s entrepreneurial capacity, the project promotes financial independence, economic resilience, and long-term economic empowerment.

4) ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS CREATION PROJECT

The MAA community is known for preserving cultural traditions, some of which promote harmful practices and gender inequalities that affect the growth and development of women and girls. Practices such as FGM, child forced marriage, and gender discrimination hinder women and girls from realizing their full potential. Many are denied their sexual and reproductive health rights, including the right to decide when to have children, how many to have, and with whom to have them. This has contributed to high levels of poverty, as women often bear many children they are unable to support or provide with basic needs such as education. Family planning is viewed as ungodly and surrounded by myths and misconceptions, and women are often excluded from leadership positions. To address these inequalities, we advocate for the rights of girls and women and create awareness on the dangers of harmful cultural practices, gender-based violence, and the importance of SRHR knowledge. We engage the community by involving duty bearers, community leaders, and men in promoting positive cultural change and supporting the protection and empowerment of women and girls.

5) COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER

To address the root causes of harmful cultural practices in our community fueled by high levels of illiteracy and poverty, we have established a Community Education Center that provides integrated education and skills development opportunities for vulnerable children, girls, and women. The center consists of three complementary wings designed to promote education access, economic empowerment, and long-term social change:
i. Primary School Wing
This wing provides access to quality basic education for children from vulnerable and low-income households, with priority given to children of our beneficiaries.
ii. Digital Literacy Wing
Through this wing, beneficiaries receive training in basic computer applications and digital skills to improve their employability, access to information, and participation in the digital economy.
iii. Skills Training Wing
The Skills Training Wing equips beneficiaries with practical, market-driven skills, including fashion and design, hairdressing, beadwork, soap and detergent making, and beauty therapy. Upon completion, trainees receive certification to enhance their employability or enable them to start income-generating activities.
